Music You Are A Weapon They sincerely hope that somewhere in the music, you find something that hits you. Something that makes you smile, something that makes you think, or something that sends a chill down your spine, the feeling you get when everything you're hearing aligns with everything you're feeling at the time. Whether it's a melody, or a lyrical line, finding something you can relate to or enjoy is what listening to music is all about. You Are A Weapon began making music in the winter months of 2006 and quickly set about writing. It took very little time for the band to garner a loyal home crowd following, and soon they began to turn heads abroad. After purchasing a van (lovingly named Big Chunky Rhonda), the band set out for their first tour in June 2007 that covered much of Western Canada. They were also selected to play on the Warped Tour in Calgary of the same year, and played to over 200 fans, who all sang along in full swing. Their first EP (occasionally referred to by others as an album, for its large 11 track size) "Lives" was released in June of 2007, selling copies as far away as Japan and the UK. A concept EP, "Lives" was inspired by many unique figures from history, and the idea that everything we do in life has an effect. Having now seen their first year through, YAAW is excited for the days to come. Having enjoyed the success of their first album and tour, the band has no intention of slowing down and is in the process of writing their next album, tentatively titled "Change Season". "Calgary's You Are A Weapon was the first act I saw, and they clearly have a loyal local following, as their short set was accompanied by more than half the crowd singing along. The five-piece's soaring synths sounded great ... I predict good things for this young group."
